Intake or source restriction
Debris, water level and intake condition can reduce what the pump can draw.
Pump-fed irrigation
Source-to-zone diagnosis for pump-fed sprinkler systems, including intake, suction, pump, relay, valve and downstream irrigation problems.
Operated by Hunter HydroTech LLC.
Source-side irrigation
A pump-fed irrigation system adds several components before water reaches the first sprinkler valve. Intake condition, suction piping, pump performance and the relay/control circuit can all affect downstream pressure.
Most Rochester Hills systems represented in current Hunter HydroTech field notes are city-water supplied, so we do not present pump irrigation as universal locally. Pump-fed systems are nevertheless serviced when encountered.

The visible sprinkler symptom can originate on either side of the valve manifold.
What we evaluate
Debris, water level and intake condition can reduce what the pump can draw.
Air entering the suction path can interfere with prime and reduce pump performance.
Mechanical or hydraulic pump issues can limit available pressure and flow.
The sprinkler controller may issue a command while the pump-control circuit fails to start normally.
A healthy pump can still feed a restricted valve, broken line or overloaded zone.
Local field context
Hunter HydroTech does not assume that a weak pump-fed zone requires a new pump. The source, suction path, control circuit and downstream irrigation need to be separated first.
The actual intake and pump arrangement should always be identified at the property rather than inferred from the neighborhood.
Service process
Understand where irrigation water originates.
Look for restrictions, air entry or loss of prime.
Confirm controller and relay behavior.
Compare pump performance against zone demand.
Rule out valves, leaks and excessive demand after the pump.
Common questions
Yes. A suction-side problem can limit the water delivered by the pump.
Yes. A restricted or leaking downstream zone can change how the entire system appears to perform.
No. Current Hunter HydroTech field history is predominantly city-water supplied, although pump systems are serviced when present.
